About Family Child Care
Family Child Care provides an alternative to child development center care for families that need evening care, weekend care, care for children with special needs, infants, and school-age children, and care during swing and midnight shifts. Family Child Care offers an opportunity for spouses to contribute to the family income while caring for their own children. FCC providers are well trained, they
and their family members undergo a thorough background check, and their homes are inspected for fire safety, health, safety, and program requirements. In addition, their homes are monitored on a regular basis (at least monthly) by the program staff.
In accordance with AFI 34-276, page 28, paragraph 2.33 “The Family Child Care Program accepts children with chronic health problems, including HIV positive
children for care and employs persons and approves as family day care providers
individuals with chronic health problems, including HIV positive individuals.” |

Expanded Duty Child Care Program
Expanded Duty Child Care (EDC) assists families in obtaining high-quality child care from licensed or affiliated providers when weekly parental workloads, due to extended duty hours, exceed the standard 50 hours of care a week that families are already purchasing in child care programs on or off base.
Air Reserve and National Guard may also use the program during primary UTA weekends if no other care is available. At present this program is at no cost to the parent, however care must be coordinated through the FCC Coordinator before using. |
 |
Air Force Aid Program

For eligibly and further guidance parents should contact the Airman and Family Readiness Center, (228) 376-8728 or DSN 591-8728. |
